Can a design contest become the start of a longer client relationship?
A contest can help a client find a designer for more than one job
99designs gives clients two main ways to buy design. They can hire one designer directly, or they can launch a contest and receive ideas from several designers before choosing a winner. The contest can do more than solve one design problem. After the contest, a client can continue working with a designer through a 1-to-1 Project. 99designs even waives its client introduction fee when that designer won or reached the final round of the client’s contest. This means the contest can also work as a discovery process: the client sees different styles and working approaches first, then can turn a successful match into a longer relationship.
