Why does Bolt work with fleet owners as well as individual drivers?
Fleet owners help Bolt add several cars and drivers to a city at once
Bolt's ride-hailing platform still depends on a simple local match: a rider needs a car, and a driver nearby has to be ready to provide the ride. What makes Bolt interesting is the extra fleet-owner layer that can help build this supply. Bolt says fleet partners use its platform in more than 45 countries. A fleet owner can add and manage several vehicles and drivers through the Fleet Portal instead of Bolt having to recruit every car one by one. In some markets this relationship is especially important; for example, Bolt's current German onboarding requires drivers to be registered in the Fleet Portal by a fleet owner. Drivers still provide the actual ride, so fleet owners are not the provider side of the marketplace. They are a partner that can bring more local transport capacity into the network. This helps explain how Bolt can run ride-hailing across 50 countries and more than 850 cities without owning most of the cars itself.
