Depop
Can eBay scale Depop without flattening the social marketplace?
Ownership can change faster than platform architecture
eBay completed its acquisition of Depop on July 30, 2026, but explicitly said Depop would keep its distinct brand, platform, customer experience and culture. That makes Depop a useful platform case: the corporate owner has changed, yet the marketplace still runs on the same basic architecture of Buyers discovering fashion Listings from Sellers, completing checkout on Depop and relying on trust, payment and protection infrastructure. The strategic question is therefore not whether eBay can simply merge Depop into a larger marketplace. It is whether eBay can add scale and capabilities without weakening the social discovery and community identity that make Depop valuable in the first place.
Structured data behind the canvas
One fixed table for every PBMC. Transaction remains one field; all transaction arrows and their explanations stay inside that field, so cases remain directly comparable.
