DiDi
Why does DiDi help drivers get vehicles and energy instead of only matching rides?
DiDi makes it easier for drivers to get a car and keep it running
Like every ride-hailing platform, DiDi needs riders and nearby drivers at the same time. What makes DiDi especially interesting is how much it has built around the driver side of the marketplace in China. DiDi works with leasing companies and financial institutions so drivers can get access to vehicles, and it provides refuelling and charging services that can lower the cost of keeping those vehicles on the road. Many vehicles offered through DiDi's leasing network are owned by external leasing partners, and parts of its charging network are operated with national and local partners. By the end of 2025, about 6.7 million electric vehicles were registered on DiDi's domestic platform, electric vehicles accounted for about 74% of ride-hailing mileage in December, and the charging network covered more than 280 cities. These services matter because a driver who cannot get an affordable car or spends too much time finding fuel or charging is not useful supply for riders. DiDi therefore strengthens the ride-hailing marketplace by making it easier and cheaper for drivers to participate.
