"title": "Lyft grows its ride-hailing marketplace by connecting other services to it",
"text": "Lyft still works like a classic ride-hailing platform: riders request trips and drivers provide them. What is interesting is how important outside partnerships have become for bringing people into that marketplace. In the second quarter of 2026, Lyft said that about 30% of North American rideshare rides were linked to a partnership. These partnerships include companies such as Chase, DoorDash and United Airlines, which can give their customers benefits or reasons to use Lyft. For Lyft, this creates another way to bring demand into the rider-driver network without having to acquire every rider through the Lyft app alone. The partnerships do not replace the basic network effect. They help feed more riders into a marketplace that still depends on having enough drivers nearby when a trip is requested."
