Vrbo
Why does Vrbo only list whole homes?
Vrbo makes the marketplace simpler by only listing whole homes
Airbnb and other accommodation platforms can include whole homes, private rooms and shared spaces. Vrbo makes a narrower promise: every listing is a whole home. That means the platform deliberately leaves out some possible supply, but it gives families and groups a clearer expectation when they search. They know they will not share the living space with a host or other guests. For Vrbo, this rule is more than marketing. It shapes which properties can join, how travelers search, and which trips the marketplace is designed to serve. The case shows that a marketplace does not always become stronger by accepting every possible provider. Sometimes a narrower supply rule can make the offer easier to understand.
